Marvin Fuller, Jr. at Bakersfield Petroleum Club, Social - 6:30 p.m. & Dinner - 7:00 p.m. (Middle) The clubs in attendance were as follows: Bakersfield (0), Delano (0), East Bakersfield (3), Golden K (0), Kern (6), Oildale (3), Rosedale (0), Shafter (3/1), South Bakersfield (1), Southwest Bakersfield (9/3), Taft (4/1), Tehachapi (4/2), Westchester (4/1), KIWIN'S LTG (1), Builders Club Pres. (1) & Guest (1). Div. 33 Lt. Gov. Joe Whitby introduced Cal-Nev-Ha District Counselor Rae Whitby (Greater Lodi), and as District Chair, she outlined "Read Around the World" which is the 2004-05 First Lady Yolie's Project.

Judge Mike Bush (Bakersfield) Chaired Teen Government Day on November 3, 2004, Norris Road Veterans Hall, Noon. This is an annual event, and this year Div. 33 Kiwanis Clubs celebrated the 50th year since its' beginning. The event was the hosted by South Bakersfield Kiwanis Club Pres. Elect Ron Church with Div. 33 Lt. Gov. Joe Whitby giving the Invocation. The total attendance was 106 with the following breakdown: Bakersfield (4), Delano (0), East Bakersfield (8), Golden K (2), Kern (2), Oildale (10), Rosedale (0), Shafter (0), South Bakersfield (3), Southwest Bakersfield (0), Taft (0), Tehachapi (1), Westchester (8), & Teen Govt. Day Guests (68).
November 6, 2004
Mayor Hall asked for volunteers to help pick up trash at the Freeway 99 on and off ramps. Div. 33 Kiwanians and SOAP members were instructed by Mayor Hall at Stockdale Park & Ride. Transportation to the clean up sites were provided from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The following is not a complete list of those working: East Bakersfield (3), Kern (8), Westchester (2) and Ruby Div. KIWIN'S from the following High Schools: East Bakersfield (7) and Ridgeview (6).

(1) & Guest (1). Div. 33 Lt. Gov. Joe Whitby introduced Cal-Nev-Ha Foundation Administrative Asst. & PTP Coordinator Jennifer Chaves. She outlined how Kiwanis and SOAP clubs could participate in Pediatric Trauma Prevention programs. Div. 33 Blood Drive was hosted by the Oildale Pres. Gary Pelmear at the Norris Road Veterans Hall, 400 Norris Rd. Captain Blood Bill Altmiller (Oildale) presented a plaque to Sheriff Mac Wimbish for his talk on "What's New in Kern County Law Enforcement." Div. 33 Lt. Governor Joe Whitby (Tehachapi) was one of the last donors who totaled 24 pints to Houchin Blood Bank. (Middle Left)Cal-Nev-Ha KIWIN'S Ruby Div. LTG Melissa Pina had 5 members of her EBHS Club giving blood after this photo next to Kiwanis 3-bed Bloodmobile "Half Pint." (Middle Middle-Left) KIWIN'S Regional Advisor John Stephenson's reviewed Casey by K-9 Officer Adams. Also, KC Sheriff SWAT officers and gear were on display. Our thanks go to CEO Greg Gallon and his Houchin Blood Bank Team for using both the Rotary's (6-bed unit) and Kiwanis' (3-bed unit). A Children's Miracle Network Hospital, Bakersfield Memorial, is conducting a Radio-a-thon Fund-raiser for its Prenatal Intensive Care Unit. Div. 33 Lt. Gov. Joe Whitby and Kern Kiwanis CMN Chair Susan Handy have arranged the following schedule in 2 hour shifts for Kiwanian to answer the phones: Thursday, December 2nd (5:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) and Saturday, December 4th (8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.).

(near Planz Rd.), Social - 6:00 p.m. & Dinner - 6:30 p.m. (Middle Middle) Taft Club's quartet plus 1 Kern member (Bass) were winners of Christmas Carol Contest. The Div. 33 Literacy Program now has many Children's books brought by the attendees. Bob Kapler again did an outstanding job furnishing the music. Div. 33 DCM will be hosted by Kern Pres. David Rogers at Double Tree, 3100 Camino Del Rio Ct., Social - 6:00 p.m. & Dinner - 6:30 p.m. The Lt. Gov. Joe Whitby is shown with Kern Pres. David Rogers. (Middle Middle-Right) The Div. 33 Young Children, Priority One Committee's new program is "WEE PEE." The program is a $20,000 fund-raiser to purchase a new and improved "isolette" for use in caring for premature babies, replacing an obsolete unit in the Pediatric Intensive Care Ward at Bakersfield Memorial Hospital. Susan Handy (Kern) will be spearheading this drive together with Lt. Gov. Joe Whitby. They will work closely with Caryl Schweitzer, Executive Director of the Bakersfield Memorial Foundation. Ernest D. Wattenbarger passed away peacefully on February 28th, 2005. Services will be held on Friday March 4th, 2005 @ 10 am at St. Mark's Methodist Church-1510 McCray/Norris Road. Next Door to the Vet's Hall where Oildale Kiwanis meet. Graveside will follow at Greenlawn on Panorama. He was 92 years old and had been a member of Oildale Kiwanis since 06/03/1953 with 42 years of perfect attendance. Ernest was Div. 33 1966 Lt. Governor being the first of five to serve from Oildale Kiwanis.

Div. 33 CLE training for 2005-06 Presidents & Secretaries elects was held at the Spotlight Theater, 1622 19th St., from 8:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. 2005-06 Lt. Gov-designate Wayne Deats announced this year's theme was " The Best Show in Town". He introduced our CLE Trainer George Francis from Vista, CA with the Secretaries break out session conducted by PSDLG John Stephenson.
